Cetco Geosynthetic Clay Liners

Geosynthetic Clay Liners are engineered hydraulic barriers consisting of a layer of bentonite clay sandwiched between geotextiles or bonded to a geomembrane. When hydrated, the bentonite swells to form a low-permeability barrier, making GCLs a high-performance alternative to compacted clay liners.

Features:

  • Self-Sealing Bentonite Core: Swells upon hydration to seal minor punctures and accommodate differential settlement.
  • Factory-Controlled Manufacturing: Ensures consistent thickness, quality, and performance across all panels.
  • Lightweight and Flexible: Easier to transport and install than traditional compacted clay liners.
  • High Internal Shear Strength: Reinforced GCLs like CETCO’s BENTOMAT® and CLAYMAX® are engineered for slope stability and long-term performance.

Benefits:

  • Superior Containment: Offers low hydraulic conductivity, ideal for landfill caps, mining leach pads, and wastewater lagoons.
  • Cost-Effective Installation: Requires less excavation and material handling than compacted clay, reducing labor and equipment costs.
  • Environmental Resilience: Performs reliably in harsh chemical environments and under freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Design Versatility: Can be used in composite liner systems or as standalone barriers in a wide range of containment applications.

Applications

  • Landfill Liners & Closures
  • Mining Tailings & Leach Pads
  • Stormwater & Wastewater Containment
  • Secondary Containment for Tanks & Pipelines
  • Vertical Cutoff Walls
  • Remediation Barriers
