Job Description 

FLSA Classification: Laborer

Overtime Status:  Non- Exempt 

Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking a Night Shift Equipment Operator for our Haledon Asphalt Plants.

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well.  This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 8 hours are worked each day.  After a probationary period of sixty (60) days, the employee will be required to join Local #472. Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided through Local #472.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Handling of incoming millings while tracking inventory
• Electronic pre-shifts daily on all equipment: Inspects equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation and for general maintenance needs
• Operate plant & load trucks including using Caterpillar 980, 982, 988 equipment

• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the plant site/general labor responsibilities

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes: 

• Experience with safely operating loaders
• Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
• Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

• Hours of work are generally 6:00pm to 5:00am, Monday through Friday
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
• Periodical exposure to high levels of noise, grease & dust

Physical Demands:

• Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Repetitive stopping, bending, crouching as required to perform duties
• Ability to lift/carry at least 50-100 pounds unaccompanied
• Operator must be able to climb on & off heavy equipment independently

Travel: 

• This position is based in Haledon, NJ
